" Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda civics with spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec exhaust system."
Akira Nakai is a globally recognised Japanese custom Porsche builder and founder of RAUH-Welt Begriff (RWB), a cult movement that has redefined widebody Porsche styling around the world. Originally starting his journey as a hands-on mechanic and enthusiast in Japan, Nakai-san built his reputation through raw craftsmanship, signature hand-cut bodywork, and an unmistakable design language that blends stance, aggression, and motorsport-inspired art.
Today, he is one of the most iconic figures in global car culture, personally travelling across the world to build and assemble bespoke RWB Porsches for collectors in front of live audiences. Each build is a one-off experience, shaped entirely by his vision and done by hand, making every car a rolling piece of automotive art.
Now, for the first time ever in South Africa, Akira Nakai will bring this legendary craft to idle Auto Expo, where he will build Africa’s first RWB Porsche live in front of an audience. This also marks a historic moment as the first time in South Africa that a tuner and custom builder will construct a full vehicle live at a car show, creating an unprecedented, one-of-a-kind automotive experience for fans and petrolheads alike.
