COVID DATE

Due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, changes to the scheduled show date to a later date may be brought on by the South African Government, event promoters or local authorities. In such cases, we will communicate this to you as soon as possible.

  1. Battle Sections will be broken up into 4 categories:   

    • 7-12yrs KIDS Dance Battle

    • 13-16yrs JUNIOR Dance Battle

    • 17 & Over FEMALE Dance Battle

    • 17 & Over MALE Dance Battle

  2. Ages of each dancer will be calculated by taking the age of the dancer on the 1st December 2022.

  3. Dancers are Required to have a valid SA Birth Certificate or ID Card as proof of age for the year 2022.

  4. Dancers will dance Two Sessions in the qualifying round. This will be the first Elimination stage. The First Session of the qualifying round the Dancers will Dance 3 or 4 dancers at a time for 60seconds to the DJs Music as an introduction of their street dance style. Second Session of the qualifying round the dancers will dance ALL together for 60seconds to DJs Music. This Elimination Round will end of with Dancers lining up for Judges to make their Final Decision. 8 Dancers will be recalled for a Quarter Final.

  5. In the Quarter Final 2 Dancers will battle it out face to face in a cypher. Each dancer will dance one at a time to a song selected by the DJ. Which dancer goes first will be decided by “Spin the Bottle” .Once each dancer has danced the judges will select the winner by pointing to the winner with their arms. The Quarter Final will end of with all 8 Dancers battling it out until only 4 dancers are left standing. 4 Dancers will be recalled for the Semi- Final Battle.

  6. In the Semi Final 2 Dancers will battle it out face to face in a cypher. Each dancer will only dance once to a song selected by the DJ. Which dancer goes first will be decided by “Spin the Bottle” Once each dancer has danced the judges will select the winner by pointing to the winner with their arms. The Quarter Final will end of with all 4 Dancers battling it out until only 2 dancers are left standing. 2 Dancers will be recalled for the Final Battle.

  7. In the Final the Dancers will dance Two Rounds. In the Final the remaining 2 Dancers will battle it out face to face in a cypher one at a time. Each dancer will have two songs each selected by the DJ. Which dancer goes first will be decided by “Spin the Bottle” .Once each dancer has danced twice the judges will select the winner by pointing to the winner with their arms.

  8. All 8 FINALISTS will receive a Medal and Certificate of their achievements.

  9. All Solo Dancers will receive a Competitive Number that MUST be worn In front of their chest with 4 safety pins. Adjudicators will select dancers for the Final using Numbers and NOT NAMES OF DANCERS.

  10. Solo Dancers can use any Street Dance Styles that best suits their Dance Style or DJ’s Music. Dancers can represent one style or numerous styles.

  11. Dancers must be creative and be at an Advanced Level of their Street Dance Style. This is NOT a Beginner Dance Competition.

  12. Dancers can Freestyle or Choreograph Routines but MAY NOT SELECT A SONG.

  13. All Song choices will be DONE by SDB Organisers and DJ ONLY. DJ’s Selection is FINAL.

  14. DJ’s Music Mixes will consist of Different Street Dance Style Songs that best represent the Street Dance Culture. A 60second DJs mix will consist of more than one song choice to really challenge the Dancers and to entertain the crowd.

  15. All Solo Music will be available to all Dancers ONE MONTH BEFORE the FINAL EVENT for Dancers to prepare at a cost of R150.

  16. Dancers must wear any Street Dance Style outfit that best suits their Dance style. Clothes must be age appropriate, fit well and be for a Family Audience. Dancers that are NOT dressed correctly will be disqualified. Photos of the Street Dance Styles clothes can be sent to the organisers for approval. Dancers can change outfits every round.

  17. No PROPS Allowed and NO Taking off of clothes on stage. Dancers may use their clothes to enhance their performance but may not be Thrown off.

  18. All Dance Highlights form Breakdancing or Acrobatics are permitted but must be executed correctly and Not put any Dancer in Danger.

  19. Dancers do NOT have to dance with a FACE MASK.

  20. Dancers are not allowed to touch their opponents.

  21. Judge’s Decision is Final. Judges Sheets will be made available at the end of the Competition.
